A. THE PURPOSE:
The purpose of this program is to entertain and educate.
It will:
Serve as a social icebreaker
Teach people to understand themselves better
Give people a better appreciation of others
...And do match making
The Myers-Briggs Personality Inventory is a popular test used
in psychological research. As a public service I would like
to see this program on every BBS. Please put this door up
even if you have no intention of registering.
B. ABOUT THIS PROGRAM:
This program may be run in stand alone mode or as a door on
most BBS's including:
PCBoard (12.0 or higher)
WILDCAT!
GAP BBS
SPITFIRE BBS
RBBS-PC
QuickBBS
Remote Access
MikeBBS (MBBS 9.9 and higher)
or any other system that use a standard DOOR.SYS or
DORINFOx.DEF drop file. MB-DOOR requires 128k of memory and it
can be run on a network.
The program will store data for up to 150 users, depending on
the version. Once it hits the limit, it will start to roll
over, and older callers names will be overwritten with newer
caller names.
The MB-DOOR program comes with a number of files and creates
more in its normal operation. The files included in this
package are:
MB-DOOR.COM - The program
REG.COM - The registration stamping utility
README - Example start up files
MB-DOOR.DOC - This file
MB-QUEST.DAT - Required data file
MB-DATA.DAT - Required data file
GENERIC.SYS - Sample SYS file that works with non
supported BBS's or off line.
This file is automatically created and used by MB-DOOR:
MB-CALL.DAT - List of test takers and their scores
No temporary files other than DOOR.SYS are used by this
program.
Other files that you may place in the uploads section of you
BBS include:
MBDOOR18.ZIP - The Freeware version of this program
!BASE13.ZIP - Freeware utilities for dBase, FoxBase,
and Clipper programmers.
C. INSTALLATION PROCEDURE - Offline mode:
1. Make sure that ANSI.SYS is installed on your computer.
2. Create a directory to hold MB-DOOR, and unzip this file:
MD MB-DOOR
CD MB-DOOR
PKUNZIP A:MB-DOOR
3. Start the program by typing:
MB-DOOR GENERIC.SYS
D. INSTALLATION PROCEDURE - BBS Door:
1. Create a directory to hold MB-DOOR, and unzip this file:
MD MB-DOOR
CD MB-DOOR
PKUNZIP A:MB-DOOR
2. Create a batch file in the PCBoard main directory that will
load MB-DOOR:
CD\PCB\MB-DOOR
MB-DOOR C:\PCB\DOOR.SYS
CD\PCB
BOARD
The command line is as follows:
MB-DOOR <system file> [<com port>]
3. Modify your DOORS.LST file for PCBoard within PCBsetup. Have
PCBoard create the DOOR.SYS file on exit to the door. Please
see the README file for more examples.
E. REGISTRATION:
This programs comes in two versions:
Courtesy:
This is the version posted on BBS's. It is free, but
the roll over table kicks in after the 25th name.
Registered:
This version is $25 or whatever you can afford. It
holds the data for up to 150 users at once. If you
need a bigger roll over table, let me know and I will
expand it for you.
